Take Your Seat

Jul 26, 2026    John Harris

The sermon examined King David at one of the lowest moments of his life -- not on a battlefield, but in a private chamber above one, paralyzed by grief over the death of his son Absalom. Even as his kingdom was saved and his army returned victorious, David was unreachable, weeping through the floor above the very seat he was meant to occupy.

Through the confrontation of his general Joab and David's eventual response, we were challenged to consider what faithful leadership looks like when we have nothing left to give -- and to see in Jesus the ultimate picture of one who showed up before he felt like it, entrusting himself to the Father all the way to the cross.
