End of a Perfect Day

The sermon explored Mark chapter 1, verses 29 through 39, focusing on a single remarkable morning in Capernaum. After a full day of teaching with authority, healing Simon's mother-in-law, and ministering to an entire city gathered at Simon's door, Jesus slipped away before dawn to a desolate place to pray. When Simon tracked him down and urged him to return because everyone was looking for him, Jesus responded by moving on to the next towns instead. This passage confronts us with a challenging and clarifying truth for our spiritual lives: following Jesus means surrendering our plans to his mission, even when those plans are good ones, even when the fruit is visible, and even when the need is real.
