Grace for Rebels

Nov 9, 2025    John Harris

The sermon explored how Israel's demand for a human king was fundamentally a rejection of God's authority over their lives—yet God graciously provided for them anyway. Through the selection, transformation, and public confirmation of Saul as king, we see a pattern of divine grace that extends far beyond ancient Israel. This has profound implications for our spiritual life today. We live in a culture that systematically rejects God's authority, we participate in churches that face pressure to accommodate rather than obey, and if we're honest, we each have areas of our lives where we resist God's rule. Yet remarkably, God continues to work, direct, and provide—not because we deserve it, but because grace is who He is.
