His Hands

Oct 18, 2026  •  John Harris

The sermon explored two encounters between Jesus and the Pharisees — one in a grain field and one in a synagogue — both taking place on the Sabbath. Through these scenes, we examined what happens when God's good gifts end up in the wrong hands. The Pharisees, though deeply devoted to God's law, had surrounded it with so many man-made rules and fences that hungry men became lawbreakers and a disabled man became bait for a trap. Jesus cut through all of it with a stunning claim: He is Lord even of the Sabbath. The sermon called us to examine our own hearts — whether we drift toward legalism or license — and to surrender both to the only hands that can truly be trusted with God's good gifts: the hands of Jesus.
