The mission of Grace Community Church is to spread the good news of Jesus to all people by encouraging the saved, equipping the saints, and evangelizing the lost.
One of the amazing privileges of being a part of God’s family is the opportunity to work together to make a difference in the lives of people. Whether they live across the street or across the ocean, every person on this earth experiences real fears, asks real questions, and has very real longings for significance, purpose and meaningful relationships. Furthermore, hidden beneath the surface of their daily emptiness, people of all backgrounds desperately need to know the way to God, the truth of God, and the life that only God can give. Having found peace with God through faith in Jesus Christ, we are here to spread the good news of Jesus to all people. Empowered by the enabling work of the Holy Spirit in us and through us, we accomplish this work by Encouraging the Saved, Equipping the Saints, and Evangelizing seekers.
But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.
(2 Corinthians 2:14)
ENCOURAGE
As a church overflowing with love for God and people, we are devoted to encouraging one another by cultivating koinonia in covenant membership community. We believe that God has so composed the body of Grace that the members have a deep and sincere care for one another. Grace is a place where you can speak of your pain and sorrow, and someone responds with compassion and prayer. You can share your joys and dreams, and friends celebrate and rejoice with you. You can open up about your sinful struggles and your daily trials, and someone prays with you and offers to share your burden. By meeting in small groups, we connect with each other in meaningful ways through prayer, bible discussion and sharing our lives together. Through larger gatherings with other members of the Grace family, we cultivate Christ in each other and encourage one another along the journey. We are a caring community knit together by God’s grace. A place to heal and be restored. A place to belong. A place to call home.
EQUIP
In an atmosphere of grace, love and fellowship, we are committed to equipping the saints by feasting on the truth of God’s unfolding Word. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and all of Scripture points to, and is fulfilled, in him. We believe that it is impossible to know Jesus without what God has revealed in His Word, for it is in the Biblical storyline that God has chosen to reveal who He is, what He has done, what He continues to do and will one day accomplish. Upon this basis we unashamedly preach and teach the Word of God in all seasons and for all stages of life. We study God’s Word to discern His will. We shape our lives to what it teaches, and do not shape our understanding of the Bible to the way we want to live our lives. We strive for biblical clarity and practical application in all teaching ministries of Grace as we desire to see God’s people be equipped for works of service and discipling. We often sing God’s Word in our gatherings, as we continually grow to, not just know, but love what God has spoken to us. At Grace, in the study of God’s Word, we discuss and even disagree at times on non-essential issues that can be difficult to understand, all done in an atmosphere of love and grace. We continually grow in the knowledge and meaning of God’s Word in a culture that increasingly questions all forms of authority. We continually use the Bible to spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Simply put - at Grace, we love and are passionate about truth. We firmly believe that truth is not a moldable, abstract concept, but is rather, from eternity past to eternity future, bound up and held together in the person and work of Jesus Christ - “the way, the truth, and the life”.
EVANGELIZE
With hearts filled with love and compassion, we resolve to evangelize by planting the Gospel in the hearts and minds of lost people. Compelled by His endless mercy and abundant grace, we desire to persuasively tell others the Good News of Jesus Christ in order to make disciples. By taking the initiative to build bridges into our community, we facilitate God’s people to be a conduit of His love, reaching into our city and beyond us into every culture and language, every people group. It is our deep desire to ensure that every person hear the story of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the hope that He offers for salvation and life transformation. Evangelism is not simply instruction or information about the message of Jesus, but it is also an explicit exhortation for individuals to respond by repenting (turning from, transforming their minds about) their sinful rebellion against God to avoid His eternal judgment, and by placing their faith in Christ alone for personal salvation. The Word calls us to persuasively declare the Gospel in culturally sensitive ways, while remaining faithful to preserve the truth and integrity of the message (1 Corinthians 9:18-23). This does not mean that we all sow the seeds of the Gospel in exactly the same way, but it does mean that God has called each of us to continue to grow in our eagerness and readiness to explain the reason for the hope we have within us.
