The Marriage of John & Jessica Childers
The next Blessing Basket will be for John & Jessica (Grindley) Childers who were married in April. The basket will be in the foyer from August 14th thru September 3rd.
After knowing each other as childhood friends, we would never have guessed that the Lord would bring us together again years later. We reconnected in 2017 on a rock-climbing trip and soon realized that God was aligning our hearts with the same desire to love others and serve Him.
We were married on April 7th of this year and while Jessica has been a member of Grace since she was 15 and we both were involved during our engagement; we've spent the past few months prayerfully looking for a church body together. We are excited to say that we feel that God has led us to the GCC family and can't wait to continue to grow and serve with you!
Individually, John works as the Operations Manager of his family's business, To Your Success Inc. and has a background in outdoor ministry. Jessica works as an ICU nurse in Kennestone's Coronary Care Unit.
We pray that God will be glorified through our marriage in the years to come. So many of you have been such an encouragement to us through many seasons and we're thankful for you!
Sincerely,
John & Jessica Childers

Why A Blessing Basket?
It is a wonderful opportunity for the whole body to come alongside and bless either a new marriage or the addition of a child to your family, through birth or adoption. We wanted to find a way to invite everyone to contribute to these significant milestones. Showers typically involve adult women in the Body. However, we would like to see everyone given an opportunity to grow and deepen their faith, as they come alongside and encourage families with blessings of love. Everyone is encouraged to contribute to the Blessing Basket – men and women, young and old.
Blessing Baskets take the place of church sponsored wedding and baby showers of Grace Community Church members. To be clear, the Blessing Basket will only replace church sponsored showers - not private showers, LifeGroup showers, etc.
Everyone is encouraged to contribute to the baskets with such things as notes of encouragement and wisdom, Scripture verses, gifts, written memories, words of affirmation, gift cards, etc. There are no restrictions on what you can give to bless the family. If you have already given a gift for the occasion, this is an opportunity to simply write a note of affirmation or encouragement. There are no rules or expectations. Simply give what delights you to delight them. Seek the Lord on how you can personally be a blessing!
To help families know how to initiate the blessing basket, we would ask that you contact your LifeGroup leaders, office staff, marriage or family ministry leadership to let them know when you or your family will be celebrating a new marriage, or adding a child to your family through birth or adoption, so that you can be blessed by Grace Community Church after the wedding, birth or adoption has taken place.
After a period of giving to the basket, it will be presented to the recipients in the worship service with a prayer of blessing.
If you have any questions, you can speak with Heather Corhan or myself.
May God take the blessings offered to new marriages and families with children to further His Kingdom work in the disciple making mission that glorifies the name of Jesus, our only Lord and Savior, even worldwide!
